Born in Ontario and raised in Alberta, Dr. Nana Owusu holds a degree in Microbiology from University of Alberta, a degree in Health Studies from McMaster University, and a Doctorate degree from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO).
While at ICO, Dr. Owusu received numerous awards and honors including, but not limited to, the American Optometric Foundation Carl Zeiss Vision Fellowship, the Cribb Leadership & Service Award, the American Optometric Leadership Scholarship, and Colleague of the Year for 3 consecutive years, while maintaining his role as the President of the student body.
While practicing in America, Dr. Owusu was an adjunct clinical advisor for the ICO Externship Program at a contact lens-based family practice in Florida. Dr. Owusu's current professional affiliations include the Gold Key International Honor Society, the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Amercian Optometric Association.
Dr. Owusu was recently elected to be an active member of the Illinois College of Optometry Board of Trustees, and is also proud to serve as a member of the ICO Alumni Council as well as the student mentorship program. Locally, he is an active member of the Manitoba Association of Optometrist and currently serves as the Secretary Treasurer on the board.
Dr. Owusu is happy to care for patients of all ages and with varying levels of health and wellness, although he does receive a large number of referrals specifically for pediatric patients and adults with systemic and/ or ocular disease.
Dr. Owusu now calls Winnipeg home and when he is not taking care of patients or spending time with family, he enjoys coaching high school football and playing a variety of sports.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Renee Phipps holds a degree in Microbiology and Zoology from University of Manitoba and a Doctorate degree from Illinois College of Optometry. While studying in Chicago, Dr. Phipps received several excellence and achievement awards, including American Optometric Association Contact Lens and Cornea Section Student Research Award, the C. Payton Powell Scholarship, and National Vision Award, all while maintaining an active role in the student government at the College.
Dr. Phipps was a contributing writer for the Contact Lens & Cornea section of the American Optometric Association newsletter; her articles served as instructional tools for her colleagues and peers in the areas of contact lens care and anterior segment ocular disease. In 2007 Dr. Phipps went to San Carlos, Mexico with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity Organization and the World Health Organization to provide free eye care to the San Carlos area residents. Dr. Phipps' current professional affiliations include the Gold Key Honors Society, the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometry, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.
After practicing in Florida, Dr. Phipps now enjoys living in her home town of Winnipeg, and serving her community. Dr. Phipps is also a wife and busy mother of three.
Dr. Wilfred Lee is a native of London Ontario where he completed a double degree in Immunology and Biochemistry at the University of Western Ontario. Afterwards, he attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago graduating with honors and the Presidential Scholarship. In 2013, Dr. Lee furthered his optometric education by completing a residency in primary care and ocular disease at the Pennsylvania college of optometry based in Philadelphia. During his stay in the United States, Dr. Lee has had numerous experiences in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease including Glaucoma, Macular denegation, Uveitis and Diabetic retinopathy. He has also developed an interest in fitting contact lenses.
In his spare time, Dr. Lee likes to run, watch movies and read. His favourite pastime however, is playing the piano. Dr. Lee was classically trained and has been playing for over 21 years.
Dr. Lee recently joined Prairie Eye care in 2013, he is excited to meet many of the new and existing patients of Prairie Eye and will strive to keep their eyes healthy and seeing well.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Cayley Encarnacao completed her optometry school pre-requisites at the University of Manitoba. She then went on to the Illinois College of Optometry where she graduated with clinical honors and also received her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science.
Her professional affiliations include the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, as well as the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Encarnacao is happy to be home and reconnect with her community. She is happy to provide eye care to patients of all ages.
In her spare time, Dr. Encarnacao enjoys baking tasty treats to share.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Navroop Warraich graduated from Fort Richmond Collegiate and attended the University of Manitoba where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with distinction. Following her studies in Winnipeg, she attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.
She is pleased to return to Winnipeg and is proud to be offering vision care to patients of all ages. Her professional affiliations include the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Kamila Duplak attended the University of Winnipeg where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. Dr. Duplak went on to pursue her Doctorate degree from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science, graduating with honours. Her professional affiliations include the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists and College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Dr. Duplak has a particular interest in children's vision and ocular health and development but is pleased to offer comprehensive vision care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Duplak is happy to offer eye exams in English, Ukrainian and Polish.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Marco Kosowski completed his Bachelor of Science Degree with Distinction at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Kosowski pursued his education and earned his Doctorate degree graduating Cum Laude at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. During his time in Chicago, he was a part of both the Beta Sigma Kappa Honorary Society as well as the Tomb and Key Honorary Society. Dr. Kosowski was also awarded the Trustees Scholarship throughout his graduate program.
His professional affiliations include the Manitoba Association of Optometrist, as well as the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
In his spare time, Dr. Kosowski enjoys going to the lake with the family, fishing, golfing, playing hockey, and attending Winnipeg Jets games. He is always more than happy to talk sports with his patients.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Trisha Biswas attended the University of Manitoba where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. It was there she founded the Pre-Optometry Club for prospective optometry students. She then moved to Chicago, Illinois and attended the Illinois College of Optometry. Her professional associations include the Manitoba Association of Optometrists as well as the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Biswas is excited to return to her hometown and offer eye exams for all ages. Her love for travel and adventure, along with the desire to work with people around the world, led to her first mission trip in 2015 where she and a team of thirty individuals offered vision care to over 2000 locals in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. In her spare time Dr. Biswas loves trying new restaurants in the city. She also enjoys a good horror movie, reading and live music.
She is happy to offer eye examinations in both English and Bengali.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Stephanie Tan received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago and was then accepted into The Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University Primary Care and Ocular Disease Residency Program located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this residency, Dr. Tan worked with medical professionals specializing in Anterior Segment, Retina, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, and the Developmentally Disabled. Her responsibilities also included running the ER service with fellow residents, seeing primary care and VA patients, as well as teaching optometry students in the clinic and laboratory setting.
Dr. Tan enjoys participating in half-marathons and obstacle races. She plays the piano and is an avid badminton player. However, the majority of her spare time is spent in the kitchen baking and decorating desserts of all kinds.
Dr. Tan is happy to offer comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages.
Sadly, Dr. Sullivan has now left us to practice in the United States. We at Prairie Eye Care will all miss her, but we are happy to continue to see her patients and provide exceptional care as she did.
Dr Adams has retired. Though we are sad to see him go, we are happy to continue to care for his loyal patients.
