Myopia, more commonly known as nearsightedness, is a very common eye condition. Children with myopia tend to see blur in the distance and the progression of myopia can lead to increased risk of certain eye conditions.
In 2000 approximately 23% of the world's population was nearsighted. It is projected that by 2050 approximately 1 out of 2 people (50%) will be nearsighted.
Is there a cure for myopia?
There are a number of treatment and therapy options available to slow the progression of myopia and decrease the likelihood of specific eye conditions often associated with high myopia/ high nearsighted prescriptions.
At Prairie Eye Care our team of optometrists are ready to help. Everyday we implement research driven solutions to help families with nearsightedness. Even though there is currently no cure for myopia, we have the tools to slow it down!
At all of our Prairie Eye Care clinics, we work with each family to develop a specific treatment plan, uniquely designed for your child.
